How It Works: Sessions in Treatment
I value flexibility, openness, and listening so I can customize sessions to the needs of the center and the individuals in the group. With that in mind, the following information provides a general idea of how I typically run a session.
I hold supportive, nonjudgmental space for sharing and discussion, inviting people to become aware of what’s present physically, mentally, and spiritually.
I then create a customized, themed practice inspired by the needs of the group that day. Perhaps it’s a gentle practice with the theme of “letting go,” or a more focused practice with theme “program of action.”
This method of facilitation and customized teaching helps people become aware of their inner state and learn tools to self-regulate and prevent relapse.
This method is inspired by my training in the Yoga of 12-Step Recovery®, the Trauma-Conscious Yoga Method® (certification pending), certification in various yoga styles, personal practice in Refuge Recovery and Insight Meditation, and ongoing lived experience in mental health and addiction recovery.
